Vintage Neon - Avon Cinema

Sorry it's been rather quiet here this week. We had a seventh birthday to attend to, and I've been busy volunteering for an event at school.

Today's Photo Friday is a little bit more of things you've seen before. Like last week's Photo Friday post, it arose from my photography class scavenger hunt. Like the laundry sign I posted a few weeks ago, it is a vintage sign. The difference is that this sign still works.

Avon Cinema vintage sign - Flotsam of the Mind

The assignment was to photograph a neon sign. This took a bit of planning, as we don't have such exciting things here in the 'burbs. I took advantage of visiting grandparents to head into the city for this one.

Although this image was one of my favorites, I will not be showing it in class. I think that the point of the assignment was to capture both the light and color of neon, so a black and white will not do.

I like the reflection in this image, and I think that black and white fits well with the vintage feel of the sign. If it weren't for the listing on the marquee, I think that the age of this photo would be hard to determine.

After my son's swim meet and my daughter's birthday party this weekend, I hope to squeeze in time for more photos and more blog posts next week. I hope you all have a great weekend!
