Beautiful Tiny Things

My husband (on behalf of my kids) chose the perfect Mother's Day gift for me--a photography toy. I am now the excited owner of an olloclip 4-in-1 lens. The lens clips onto my iPhone 5 so that I can do nifty new photography things with my iPhone.

The version of olloclip that I own has a 10x macro lens and a 15x macro lens, as well as a fish-eye and wide-angle lens. I tried both the macro lenses this week.  I had the most success with the 10x, as I found it harder to focus the 15x.

Having a macro lens for my iPhone is perfect because it allows me to experiment with new things without the financial commitment of a new DSLR lens. I'm not interested enough in macro photography to purchase a macro lens for my DSLR, but I had fun experimenting with this lower-cost version.

I'm pretty excited with the results after only a couple brief sojourns in my yard (and with the Mother's Day bouquet on my kitchen table). Now if I can only find some bugs....

olloclip and iPhone don't know who I am and don't know I wrote this. I'm just excited by new toys and wanted to share.

You may have seen these photos in my Instagram feed. If not, follow me (flotsamofthemind) to see the results of what I try next.

  1. Cynthia - I haven't had my smart phone for very long, so my camera pics are still a bit amateurish - I love the idea of getting a lens to play with! Gorgeous pics!
