My husband and I took a short overnight trip to New York last weekend. The first day, I carried my DSLR around all afternoon but didn't take a single photo. I was catching up with friends while walking and wanted to focus on them.
I learned my lesson and left the DSLR at the hotel on the second day. I snapped a couple photos throughout the day with my iPhone, but my favorites came during the train ride home. I took and edited each of the below photos with my iPhone.
I took the first photo through the train window at my seat, which accounts for the splotchy effect. The train wasn't moving very fast at this point, and I liked the combination of bridges, wires, and clouds.
I stood in the vestibule between train cars for this next photo. I love the shapes of the wheel and window and that you can see the world rushing by outside. Only after I hung out here looking for the right shot did I notice the sign that said: "For Your Safety, Do Not Stand in Vestibule."
I'm a stickler for safety, but I wanted to try one last shot before heading back to my seat. The train was traveling rather fast, and I was curious what kind of shot I could get through the vestibule window. When we passed a beach, I decided it was a good time to see what I could do.
